The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-human IgG antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of COVID19 N protein human IgG antibody bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
The Positive Controls are from an inactivated serum sample which contains SARS-COV-2 N protein human IgG antibody. We do not know the exact amount of SARS-COV-2 N protein human IgG antibody in the Positive Control sample. The Positive Control can be used as calibration curve for interpretation purposes in different assays.
REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.

Properties and Storage Information:
Shipped at conditions-Dry Ice, Appropriate short-term storage conditions--80°C, Appropriate long-term storage conditions--80°C, Storage information--80°C

Supplementary Information:
This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.
COVID-19 N-Protein also known as the nucleocapsid protein of SARS-CoV-2 plays a fundamental role in the virus's life cycle. Mechanically it binds to the viral RNA genome forming a ribonucleoprotein complex that is critical for viral replication. N-Protein's approximate molecular mass is around 46 kDa. It is expressed in the cytoplasm of infected cells and is highly abundant making it an important target for diagnostic assays like the COVID-19 ELISA test.
Biological function summary
The N-Protein functions as a structural component of the coronavirus. It facilitates the encapsidation of the viral genome and forms part of the viral replication-transcription complexes. The N-Protein interacts with other viral proteins such as the membrane (M) protein indicating its involvement in viral assembly and release. It influences the host cell's response to infection by modulating various cellular processes.
Pathways
The COVID-19 N-Protein participates in the replication and transcription pathway of SARS-CoV-2. It engages with RNA polymerase and NSP3 to support efficient viral RNA synthesis. This protein is related to the structural pathway of viral particles where it ensures the stability and packaging of the viral genome alongside proteins like the S (spike) and E (envelope) proteins.
The COVID-19 N-Protein is closely associated with the pathogenesis of COVID-19. It triggers an immune response making it a target for antibody detection in serological assays such as the COVID-19 ELISA kit. The N-Protein's interaction with host cell components may influence disease severity by affecting interferon pathways linked to other structural proteins like the S-protein. Understanding these interactions helps in developing therapeutic strategies against COVID-19.
