They encode type II membrane-bound glycoproteins that appear to have exclusive specificity for the donor substrate UDP-galactose; all transfer galactose in a beta1,4 linkage to similar acceptor sugars: GlcNAc, Glc, and Xyl. Each beta4GalT has a distinct function in the biosynthesis of different glycoconjugates and saccharide structures. As type II membrane proteins, they have an N-terminal hydrophobic signal sequence that directs the protein to the Golgi apparatus and which then remains uncleaved to function as a transmembrane anchor. B4GALT1 is unique among the beta4GalT genes because it encodes an enzyme that participates both in glycoconjugate and lactose biosynthesis. B4GALT1 has two isoforms with molecular weights of 44 kda and 43 kda that are localized to the cell surface and Golgi apparatus, respectively.\n\u003cb\u003eSpecification\u003c\/b\u003e\nTested Reactivity: human, mouse\nHost \/ Isotype: Rabbit \/ IgG\nClass: Polyclonal\nType: Antibody\nImmunogen: Peptide Predict reactive species\nFull Name: UDP-Gal:betaGlcNAc beta 1,4- galactosyltransferase, polypeptide 1\nCalculated Molecular Weight: 44 kDa\nObserved Molecular Weight: 40-44 kDa\nGenBank Accession Number: NM_001497\nGene Symbol: B4GALT1\nGene ID (NCBI): 2683\nRRID: AB_3670253\nConjugate: Unconjugated\nForm: Liquid\nPurification Method: Antigen affinity purification\nUNIPROT ID: P15291\nStorage Buffer: PBS with 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, pH 7.3.\nStorage Conditions: Store at -20°C.
