It is expressed as a disulfide-bonded homodimer on natural killer cells, myeloid cells and a subset of T cells (PMID: 11114420). TYROBP acts as a signaling adaptor that provides signaling function via the Syk and ZAP-70 tyrosine kinase activation pathways (PMID: 15895090). The gene of TYROBP is located on the long arm of chromosome 19 at position 13.1.
