The TFPIa isoform is present in platelets. TFPI is a Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor that exerts anticoagulant activity by blocking early procoagulant stimulia. TFPI can enhance anti-thrombotic treatment in sepsis, inflammatory diseases, and cardiovascular diseases.
