It has glyoxylate reductase (GR), hydroxypyruvate reductase (HPR) and D-glycerate dehydrogenase (DGDH) activities(PMID:16597637). Defects in GRHPR are the cause of hyperoxaluria primary type 2 (HP2)(PMID: 10484776).
