Labelling with the pan-neuronal marker MAP2 highlights the neuronal purity of these cells. Labelling with the glutamatergic-specific marker FOXP2 indicates overwhelming presence of glutamatergic neurons. Cortical Glutamatergic Neurons are adherent and exhibit substantial neurite outgrowth within the first week in culture, showing the characteristic oval cell shape and long processes of classic cortical glutamatergic neurons.
