RBPMS contains a single RRM domain at its amino terminus, which preferentially binds to tandem CAC trinucleotide motifs on target RNA (1). This protein is expressed in various tissues, with the highest levels detected in organs rich in smooth muscle, such as the heart, bladder, and gastrointestinal tract (2). RBPMS plays a critical role in normal heart development and cardiomyocyte binucleation by regulating RNA alternative splicing, and its loss or disruption results in contractility defects and dilated cardiomyopathy (3,4). Additionally, RBPMS serves as a selective marker for retinal ganglion cells (5).
Alternate Names
FLJ32971; Heart and RRM expressed sequence; HERMES; RBP-MS; RBPMS; RNA binding protein with multiple splicing; RNA binding protein, mRNA processing factor; RNA-binding protein with multiple splicing

Specification

REACTIVITY: H M R
SENSITIVITY: Endogenous
MW (kDa): 24, 22
Source/Isotype: Rabbit IgG
