Basigin is a glycosylated protein with four known isoforms, of which isoform 2 is the most abundantly expressed (2). Multiple functions have been ascribed to Basigin; foremost among these is stimulating the secretion of extracellular matrix metalloproteinases by adjacent fibroblasts, a function which has been implicated in promoting tumor progression (2-4). Research studies have shown that Basigin is overexpressed by many tumor cells, and its expression level may correlate with tumor malignancy (5,6). A recent study identified the gene as a regulatory target of Slug, suggesting a role for Basigin in the process of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (7). Basigin has also been identified as a marker for a subset of highly suppressive regulatory T cells (8), and as an obligate receptor for the malarial parasite on human erythrocytes (9).\n\u003cb\u003eAlternate Names\u003c\/b\u003e\n5F7; BASI; Basigin; basigin (Ok blood group); BSG; CD147; CD147 antigen; Collagenase stimulatory factor; EMMPRIN; EMPRIN; Extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer; Leukocyte activation antigen M6; M6; OK; OK blood group antigen; SLC7A11; TCSF; Tumor cell-derived collagenase stimulatory factor\n\n\u003cb\u003eSpecification\u003c\/b\u003e\n\nREACTIVITY: H\nSENSITIVITY: Endogenous\nMW (kDa): 38-58\nSource\/Isotype: Rabbit IgG","brand":"CST","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46797591150761,"sku":"13287T","price":0.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/iright.com\/products\/cst-13287t","provider":"Iright","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
