This antibody does not cross-react with fructose bisphosphate aldolase A or fructose bisphosphate aldolase B proteins.
Species Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat
Source / Purification
Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Gly316 of human aldolase C protein.
Background
Aldolase (fructose bisphosphate aldolase), a glycolytic enzyme, catalyzes the conversion of fructose 1, 6-bisphosphate to 3-phosphoglyceraldehyde. This ubiquitous enzyme is present as three different isozymes: aldolase A, aldolase B, and aldolase C. Research studies suggest that aldolase A expression potentially differentiates between nonneoplastic liver diseases and hepatocarcinoma (1). Furthermore, investigators have shown that changes in aldolase B gene expression levels have been observed in certain patients with this primary tumor (2,3). Aldolase C is primarily expressed in the central nervous system (4). Studies have shown increased detection of serum aldolase C following traumatic brain injury (TBI) and mild TBI, showing potential for aldolase C as a biomarker for TBI (5,6).
Alternate Names
ALDC; ALDOC; aldolase 3; aldolase C, fructose-bisphosphate; aldolase, fructose-bisphosphate C; Brain-type aldolase; epididymis secretory sperm binding protein; fructoaldolase C; fructose-1,6-biphosphate triosephosphate lyase; Fructose-bisphosphate aldolase C

Specification

REACTIVITY: H M R
SENSITIVITY: Endogenous
MW (kDa): 41
Source/Isotype: Mouse IgG1 kappa
