GIRK family proteins allow potassium to flow into the cell and therefore control cellular excitability in the central nervous system, heart, and pancreas (1-4). Activation of most GIRK channels requires heterologous subunit assembly and the presence of ATP (5-7). GIRK2 is abundantly expressed in the brain, where it is involved in pain perception. It is also required for peripheral opioid-mediated analgesia (8). Additionally GIRK2 localizes to pancreatic β cells and regulates insulin secretion (9,10). Mutations in the gene encoding GIRK2 are associated with Keppen-Lubinsky Syndrome, a rare disease characterized by severe developmental delay, facial dysmorphism, and intellectual disability (11).\n\u003cb\u003eAlternate Names\u003c\/b\u003e\nBIR1; G protein-activated inward rectifier potassium channel 2; GIRK-2; GIRK2; hiGIRK2; Inward rectifier K(+) channel Kir3.2; inward rectifier potassium channel KIR3.2; IRK6; KATP-2; KATP2; KCNJ6; KCNJ7; KIR3.2; KPLBS; MGC126596; Potassium channel, inwardly rectifying subfamily J member 6; potassium channel, inwardly rectifying subfamily J, member 6; potassium inwardly rectifying channel subfamily J member 6; potassium inwardly-rectifying channel J6; potassium inwardly-rectifying channel, subfamily J, member 6; potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily J member 6\n\n\u003cb\u003eSpecification\u003c\/b\u003e\n\nREACTIVITY: H M R\nSENSITIVITY: Endogenous\nMW (kDa): 46\nSource\/Isotype: Rabbit IgG","brand":"CST","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46797897662633,"sku":"25797S","price":0.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/iright.com\/products\/cst-25797s","provider":"Iright","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
