SMARCD\/BAF60 proteins are BAF family members that, along with SMARCC1\/BAF155A, serve as an initial subcomplex critical for the formation of the intact BAF complex (9). These proteins serve as an interface between the BAF complex and many other key transcription factors, including glucocorticoid receptor and p53 (10,11). SMARCD1\/BAF60A has been implicated in stem cell differentiation by controlling H3K27me3 distribution (12).
