CPA3 expression is largely limited to secretory granules within specific subsets of mast cells, but has also been reported in basophils in the context of allergic conditions (2,3). Although CPA3 protein is expressed only in mast cells that also express tryptase and mast cell chymase (CMA1) (MC ), the gene may be expressed in both MC and mast cells that express tryptase but not CMA1 (MC ) (4).
