CHMP7 is typically found in the cytoplasm under homeostatic conditions, but it continually diffuses into the nucleus (1,2). To prevent accumulation, it is then actively exported back to the cytoplasm by exportin-1 (1,2). Upon completion of mitosis, CHMP7 helps to reform the nuclear envelope (3). CHMP7 can also regulate interactions between the endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria (3). Micronuclei, often present in cancer cells with chromosomal instability, can be disrupted by CHMP7 accumulation and oligomerization, which occurs with increased intracellular reactive oxygen species (4). CHMP7 is also involved in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and may be a therapeutic target. Aberrant CHMP7 nuclear accumulation in neurons leads to nuclear pore damage and TDP-43 dysfunction (2,5).
Alternate Names
Charged multivesicular body protein 7; CHMP family, member 7; CHMP7; Chromatin-modifying protein 7; MGC29816

Specification

REACTIVITY: H
SENSITIVITY: Endogenous
MW (kDa): 61
Source/Isotype: Rabbit IgG
