The peptide sequence used as the antigen is 100% conserved between CaMKII-alpha, gamma and delta, and 88% conserved in CaMKII-beta.
Species Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat
Source / Purification
Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide surrounding Val184 of human CaMKII-alpha.
Background
CaMKII is an important member of the calcium/calmodulin-activated protein kinase family, functioning in neural synaptic stimulation and T cell receptor signaling (1,2). CaMKII has catalytic and regulatory domains. Ca /calmodulin binding to the CaMKII regulatory domain relieves autoinhibition and activates the kinase (3). The activated CaMKII further autophosphorylates at Thr286 to render the kinase constitutively active (3). The threonine phosphorylation state of CaMKII can be regulated through PP1/PKA. PP1 (protein phosphatase 1) dephosphorylates phospho-CaMKII at Thr286. PKA (protein kinase A) prevents phospho-CaMKII (Thr286) dephosphorylation through an inhibitory effect on PP1 (4).
Alternate Names
calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase II alpha; calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase II beta; calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase II delta; calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase II gamma; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase (CaM kinase) II alpha; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase (CaM kinase) II delta; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase (CaM kinase) II gamma; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II alpha; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II alpha-B subunit; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II beta; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II delta; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II gamma; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II alpha chain; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II beta chain; calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II delta chain; Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II subunit alpha; Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II subunit beta; Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II subunit delta; Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II subunit gamma; calmodulin-dependent kinase II; CaM kinase II alpha subunit; CaM kinase II beta subunit; CaM kinase II delta subunit; CaM kinase II subunit alpha; CaM kinase II subunit beta; CaM kinase II subunit delta; CaM kinase II subunit gamma; CaM-kinase II alpha chain; CaM-kinase II beta chain; CaM-kinase II delta chain; CAM2; CAMK; CAMK-II; CaMK-II alpha subunit; CaMK-II delta subunit; CaMK-II subunit alpha; CaMK-II subunit beta; CaMK-II subunit delta; CaMK-II subunit gamma; CAMK2; CaMK2-beta; CaMK2-delta; CAMK2A; CAMK2B; CAMK2D; CAMK2G; CAMKA; CAMKB; CAMKD; CAMKG; CaMKII; CaMKIIalpha; CaMKIIbeta; CaMKIINalpha; FLJ16043; KCC2A; KCC2B; KCC2D; KCC2G; KIAA0968; MGC26678; MGC29528; MGC44911; MRD53; MRD54; MRD59; MRT63; proline rich calmodulin-dependent protein kinase

Specification

REACTIVITY: H M R
SENSITIVITY: Endogenous
MW (kDa): 60, 50
Source/Isotype: Rabbit IgG
