It recognizes a variety of ligands that belong to the non-classical MHC class I family, including MICA, MICB, ULBP1-6 in human and Mult1, H60 (a, b, and c), and Rae-1 (α-ε) in mice. These ligand proteins are not expressed in most tissues under normal conditions, but are expressed in cells under stress, such as viral infection and malignant transformation. Engagement of NKG2D by these ligands activates cytolytic activity of NK and T cells against target cells, providing immunosurveillance. Some of these ligands are polymorphic. There are more than 100 different alleles for MICA, 40 for MICB, and around 20 for ULBPs (1-4). In addition, some of these ligands can be proteolytically cleaved from the cell surface to become soluble forms. The interaction of soluble ligands with NKG2D results in endocytosis and degradation of ligand-receptor complexes, therefore suppressing NKG2D-mediated immunosurveillance (5,6). However, recent data also demonstrated that soluble ligands can promote NK cell activation and tumor rejection (7,8).\n\u003cb\u003eAlternate Names\u003c\/b\u003e\nHLA class I antigen; major histocompatibility complex class I chain-related protein A; MHC class I chain-related gene A protein; MHC class I chain-related molecule B; MHC class I chain-related protein A; MHC class I chain-related protein B; MHC class I mic-B antigen; MHC class I molecule; MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence A; MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence B; MHC class I related chain A; MHC class I related sequence A; MHC class I-like molecule PERB11.2-IMX; MIC-A; MIC-B; MICA; MICB; PERB11.1; PERB11.2; Stress inducible class I; stress inducible class I homolog; truncated MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence A; truncated MICA\n\n\u003cb\u003eSpecification\u003c\/b\u003e\n\nREACTIVITY: H\nSENSITIVITY: Endogenous\nMW (kDa): 60, 75\nSource\/Isotype: Rabbit IgG","brand":"CST","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46799837429929,"sku":"64899T","price":0.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/iright.com\/products\/cst-64899t","provider":"Iright","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
