SST is expressed throughout the brain. In the cortex, SST is expressed in a subset of GABAergic neurons and is known as a protein marker of inhibitory interneurons (2). Besides the central nervous system (CNS), SST is expressed in various organs, such as the pancreas, gut, and immune cells (2,3). There are two types of biologically active SST isoforms that vary in constituent amino acids: SST-14 and SST-28. Generally, SST-14 is more predominant in the CNS, whereas SST-28 is more abundant in peripheral body organs (3). Reduction of SST expression has been proposed as a hallmark of various pathological conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, epilepsy, and depression (4,5,6,7).\n\u003cb\u003eAlternate Names\u003c\/b\u003e\nGrowth hormone release-inhibiting factor; Neuronostatin; NST; prepro-somatostatin; SMS; SMST; Somatostatin; Somatostatin-14; Somatostatin-28; SST; SST-14\n\n\u003cb\u003eSpecification\u003c\/b\u003e\n\nREACTIVITY: H M\nSENSITIVITY: Endogenous\nMW (kDa): 13\nSource\/Isotype: Rabbit IgG","brand":"CST","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46799879078057,"sku":"72602T","price":0.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/iright.com\/products\/cst-72602t","provider":"Iright","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
