TANC2 is a large 220 kDa protein consisting of 1990 amino acid residues. Named after its domain architecture, it comprises tetratricopeptide (TPR) and ankyrin repeats (ANK), a coiled-coil domain, and a C-terminal PDZ-interacting motif. TANC2 is widely expressed in the developing human (in excitatory neurons and radial glial cells) and rodent brain as well as in the adult brain as a scaffold in the postsynaptic density (PSD) of excitatory neurons.
