It plays a role in host defense, cell growth and differentiation, cell migration, and malignant transformation(PMID:20351171). It also can mediate oncogenic Ras-induced upregulation of VEGF and angiogenesis by activating Sp1 through Ras-ERK-dependent phosphorylation of Sp1(PMID:18454179). It has 3 isoforms produced by alternative splicing with the molecular weight of 65 kDa, 22 kDa and 59 kDa. The full length protein has two glycosylation sites.
