GlutaMAX™ Supplement is used for replacing L-glutamine in mammalian cell culture medium with a more stable dipeptide source of glutamine. The solution contains 200 mM L-alanyl-L-glutamine in 0.85% sodium chloride and is supplied as a 100X sterile-filtered liquid in a 100 mL bottle. L-alanyl-L-glutamine can substitute for free L-glutamine on an equimolar basis in both adherent and suspension mammalian cell culture. Its improved stability reduces spontaneous glutamine degradation during incubation and can support consistent medium performance in longer-lasting cultures. The concentrated formulation enables routine preparation of supplemented growth media by aseptically adding the required molar amount to the basal medium. The product is animal-origin-free and has a 24-month shelf life from manufacture when stored at 15–30 °C; it ships at room temperature. It is useful in workflows where a glutamine source is required but the instability of free glutamine would complicate media preparation, storage or prolonged cell culture. The exact pack provides a single 100 mL bottle rather than a multipack.
