Oxoid™ Salmonella Selective Supplement is a freeze-dried additive that increases selectivity when preparing compatible chromogenic Salmonella agar. This package contains ten vials, each suitable for supplementing 500 mL of medium. It is used with Brilliance™ Salmonella Agar Base CM1092B and compatible Chromogenic Salmonella Agar Base formulations. The selective agents include novobiocin and cefsulodin, which help inhibit unwanted competing organisms such as Proteus and Pseudomonas during Salmonella isolation. The supplemented agar supports presumptive differentiation of Salmonella colonies for later identification and confirmation. The product is not a standalone agar powder or a complete microbiology test kit; it is a preparation additive intended for use with the matching dehydrated agar base.
