Sera-Mag™ SpeedBeads Streptavidin-Blocked Magnetic Particles, 3 µm Sera-Mag SpeedBeads Streptavidin-Blocked Magnetic Particles combine high affinity for biotinylated target molecules with very low nonspecific binding. • Very high binding capacity and low non-specific binding for biotinylated target molecules on-surfactant due to non-protein blocking reagent • Fast reaction kinetics increases throughput and precision, enabling faster movement through viscous solutions • Unique cauliflower-like surface structure provides increased surface area for binding reactions compared to smooth-surfaced particles • Uniform, nominal 1 μm and 3 μm diameters provide excellent lot-to-lot reproducibility • Also available as custom manufactured beads Sera-Mag™ SpeedBeads streptavidin-blocked magnetic particles now available in 1 µm and 3 µm nominal diameters. Streptavidin coating targets biotinylated molecules Compounds that are difficult to attach to particle surfaces by conventional means may be amenable to biotinylation. Sera-Mag SpeedBeads and Sera-Mag Streptavidin-Coated Magnetic Particles provide a high biotin-binding capacity along with a strong affinity for targeted, biotin-labeled molecules. Sera-Mag SpeedBeads respond twice as fast The core of the particle is made by a free radical emulsion polymerization of styrene and acid monomer. Two layers of magnetite are coated onto this core, resulting in faster magnetic response times. The surface is then blocked with a non-surfactant, non-protein-based method, to help prevent non-specific binding of proteins.
