Overview
The EconoFit IMAC and Desalting Column Pack is designed to facilitate the automated tandem or 2-D chromatography purification of histidine-tagged proteins. Use the Nuvia IMAC Column to bind and elute target protein followed by a Bio-Gel P-6 Desalting Column to quickly and efficiently buffer exchange the eluate to remove imidazole.

The EconoFit IMAC and Desalting Column Pack consists of the following columns:
Immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC) is an excellent chromatography technique for purification of histidine-tagged proteins. The principle of IMAC is based on the affinity that histidine has for metal ions. Side chains on the nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) functional ligand selectively bind recombinant histidine-tagged proteins when the resin is charged with Ni 2+ or other metals. The advantage of this technique is that proteins can often be purified close to homogeneity in a single step.
EconoFit Nuvia IMAC Columns
EconoFit Nuvia IMAC Columns are packed with Bio-Rad’s specially designed Nuvia IMAC Ni-Charged Resin. Characteristics such as the polymeric nature, optimized ligand density, and open pore structure of the Nuvia IMAC Bead result in superb mechanical strength with high stringency, low nonspecific binding, and the ability to perform separations at high flow rates.
EconoFit Bio-Gel P-6 Desalting Columns
EconoFit Bio-Gel P-6 Desalting Columns are packed with Bio-Gel P-6DG Gel. This gel consists of hydrophilic, spherical, polyacrylamide beads intended for the purification of proteins, nucleic acids, viruses, plasmids, and other macromolecules. Bio-Gel P-6DG Beads are designed to provide high-efficiency desalting or buffer exchange at low backpressure.
