Clusterin is identified as a notorious host cell protein (HCP) contaminant in the downstream process of biotherapeutics expressed in CHO cells, such as monoclonal antibodies and Fc-fusion constructs. Therefore, implementing a clusterin-specific polishing step in flow-through mode, after the primary capture, can adequately remove this contaminant and its complexes while the recombinant protein is untouched.
