Additional Information
Atlantis T3 Column, 100Å, 3 µm, 4.6 mm X 150 mm, 1/pk Created to solve one of the most challenging issues facing chromatographers, retaining polar compounds, the Atlantis T3 columns by Waters are the market’s best choice for developing separations of polar and non-polar compounds. Through Waters’ experience and innovation, Atlantis T3 columns are industry leaders, providing superior performance, versatility, retention, and chromatographic stability for polar compounds, all while providing balanced retention for broad analyte measures. All of these benefits and years of research have culminated in the Atlantis T3 Column. The Atlantis T3 Column is able to redefine polar compound retention as a result of intelligent stationary phase design. The advanced T3 bonding process makes use of a trifunctional C18-alkyl phase, bonded at an intermediate 1.6 µmol/m² ligand density to promote polar compound retention. The lower ligand density allows analytes to more easily access the pore structure of the material, where over 99% of retention occurs, enhancing the retention. Designed to provide exceptional performance across an expansive range of compound polarities, the Atlantis T3 column is ideally suited as a universal reversed-phase column in open access environments. These columns are able to provide enhanced retention without necessitating reagents, which may cause suppression in the MS response. This enables lower limits of detection and quantitation for LC/MS methods. Unlike traditional C18 columns, the T3 bonding process resists ligand cleavage by utilizing a trifunctional attachment of the C18 phase to the particle surface. This allows exceptional column life, even at a low pH. The T3 columns also use the proprietary T3 end-capping process, which is demonstrably more effective at reacting with the active sites of residual surface silanols than traditional TMS end-capping, leading to superior peak shape and stability. All Atlantis T3 columns are manufactured in cGMP, ISO 9001:2000 certified plants, and each step is conducted within narrow tolerance ranges. FAQs about Atlantis T3 Column What makes the Atlantis T3 Column optimal for the separation of polar compounds? The Atlantis T3 Column is designed with a proprietary T3 bonding technology that enhances retention of polar compounds, making it particularly effective for reversed-phase chromatography where polar compound retention is often challenging. How does the particle size in the Atlantis T3 Column affect its chromatographic performance? The 3 µm particle size in the Atlantis T3 Column enables high-resolution separations with reduced run times and solvent consumption, which is advantageous for both routine and complex analyses. Is the Atlantis T3 Column compatible with both HPLC and UPLC platforms? The Atlantis T3 Column is designed to be compatible with HPLC systems, and due to its small particle size, it may also be used on UPLC platforms, provided the system can operate at the pressures required for smaller particles. Can the Atlantis T3 Column be used for the analysis of biomolecules? Yes, the Atlantis T3 Column's pore size and surface chemistry are suitable for the analysis of small to medium biomolecules, offering good peak shape and resolution. What are the best practices for maintaining the Atlantis T3 Column? Maintaining the Atlantis T3 Column involves using appropriate cleaning protocols with solvents that are compatible with the column's bonding chemistry and storing the column under recommended conditions to prevent any degradation of performance.

FAQ
What is a ligand? Ligands are ions or neutral molecules that bond to a central metal atom or ion to form a coordination complex. A ligand acts as a Lewis base (electron pair donor), and the central atom acts as a Lewis acid (electron pair acceptor). Ligands all have at least one donor atom with an electron pair, which is used to form covalent bonds with the central atom.
The size of a ligand is dictated by its cone angle. Ligands can be anions, cations, or neutral molecules. They can also be characterized as monodentate, bidentate, tridentate, etc. What is HPLC? High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is an advanced analytical method employed to effectively segregate, discern, and measure constituents within a complex amalgamation. As the predominant technique embraced across laboratories worldwide, this test assumes paramount significance, catering to a diverse range of objectives with unparalleled versatility.
