Can Phosphate Buffers Be Used With XBridge BEH C18 Columns? Phosphate buffers offer unique selectivity, excellent UV transparency, and good buffering capacity at a range of pKa values, but due to the aggressive nature of phosphate, silica-based columns often see reduced lifetime when they are being used. The XBridge columns allow for excellent performance using phosphate buffers across the entire pH range. This is possible because of improved chemical resistance of BEH Technology particles. Chromatographers can now take full advantage of phosphate buffers without sacrificing the quality of their separations.
