Overview
Use Tris Buffered Saline (TBS) with 1% (w/v) Casein for blocking membranes for blotting. Blocking buffers containing casein can provide lower backgrounds than buffers containing low fat milk, and casein is recommended for applications using biotin-avidin complexes. Tris Buffered Saline (TBS) with 1% (w/v) Casein is recommended for applications using alkaline phosphate since unlike phosphate-containing buffers it does not interfere with enzyme activity.
