This is done while the columns provide complementary selectivity in straight-chain alkyl phases, particularly when working with polyaromatic compounds. In addition to the unique column selectivity and exceptional peak shape offered by ACQUITY UPLC CSH Phenyl-Hexyl columns, the lab equipment boasts reproducibility that leads the market. For work with basic compounds at low and high pH, loading capacity has been optimized, preventing the need for ion-pair reagents. Advanced column equilibration at low and high pH is possible due to exceptional stability. ACQUITY UPLC CSH Phenyl-Hexyl Columns utilize CSH technology, benefitting from the controlled, low-level surface charge in order to provide the peak shape and selectivity needed for low ionic strength mobile phases. The patented process begins with the rugged and efficient unbonded BEH particle, applying a controlled surface charge to the particle before functionalizing with the applicable bonded phase chemistries. A proprietary end-capping process is then used. Because of the controlled, low-level surface charge used in CSH particles, the trifunctionally bonded phenyl-hexyl ligand allows for peak shape and performance that exceed expectations, even when using basic compounds in their ionized form under acidic mobile-phase conditions. Each batch of material is chromatographically tested against acidic, basic, and neutral analytes with results held to a narrow specification range. This ensures reproducible results and performance. FAQ
How Should I Store ACQUITY UPLC CSH Phenyl-Hexyl Columns? If your ACQUITY UPLC CSH Phenyl-Hexyl column needs to be stored at room temperature for more than four days, 100% acetonitrile should be used. For applications at elevated temperatures, the column should be immediately stored in 100% acetonitrile in order to preserve column lifetimes.
Do not store columns in buffered eluents. If the mobile phase contained a buffer salt, slough the column with 10 column volumes of HPLC grade water and then replace with 100% acetonitrile for storage. If this step is skipped, it can lead to precipitation of the buffer salt.
Completely seal the column to avoid evaporation and drying out of the column bed.
