NorthernMax™ Prehybridization/Hybridization Buffer This buffer is functionally tested by northern blotting and is certified RNase-free. No BSA, Denhardt's, or other potentially nuclease-contaminated biological materials are used in preparing this buffer, ensuring maximum sensitivity and reproducibility. One bottle containing 500 mL is provided. The Ambion® NorthernMax® Prehybridization/Hybridization Buffer contains 50% formamide with proprietary blocking and background reduction agents. Blocking agents minimize cross hybridization to ribosomal sequences. Signal-to-noise ratios are increased by the background reducing agents' suppression of hybridization to the membrane, which is particularly important with nonisotopic detection protocols. NorthernMax® reagents are the same components included in the NorthernMax® Ultrasensitive Northern Blotting Kits but in larger sizes. These reagents are supplied ready to use and are certified RNase-free. Comprehensive instructions are included.
