In addition, SB 225002 reduces MPO activity, IL-1β, MIP-2, and keratinocyte-derived chemokine (KC) levels. Further studies suggest that SB 225002 decreases the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor, inducible NOS (NO synthase), and Cox-2 (cyclooxygenase-2 proteins) in colon tissue.
