Product details:
Abcam's anti-Echinococcus IgG Human
in vitro
ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the accurate qualitative measurement of IgG class antibodies against Echinococcus in Human serum and plasma.
A 96-well plate has been precoated with Echinococcus antigens to bind cognate antibodies. Controls or test samples are added to the wells and incubated. Following washing, a horseradish peroxidase (HRP) labelled anti-Human IgG conjugate is added to the wells, which binds to the immobilized Echinococcus-specific antibodies. TMB is then catalyzed by the HRP to produce a blue color product that changes to yellow after adding an acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of Echinococcus IgG sample captured in plate.

Echinococcus IgG is an immunoglobulin that targets antigens from the Echinococcus parasite. Researchers commonly identify it as a biomarker in serological tests especially in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) formats. The mass of the Echinococcus IgG molecule is around 150 kDa typical for an immunoglobulin G. These immunoglobulins are expressed mainly in plasma cells where they detect and bind to specific antigens related to Echinococcus species.
Biological function summary
Echinococcus IgG plays a critical role in the immune response to parasitic infection. When the Echinococcus parasite infects a host the host's immune system recognizes the antigens presented by the parasite which results in the production of IgG. These antibodies trigger processes that aim to neutralize the infectious agents working in concert with other immune components such as cytokines and complement proteins.
Pathways
Echinococcus IgG is integral to host-pathogen interaction mechanisms in the immune system. It is engaged in the humoral immune response pathway primarily involving antigen recognition and antibody production. This pathway includes several proteins and cells such as T lymphocytes which aid in enhancing and refining the response ensuring effective targeting and neutralization of the parasite.
Echinococcus IgG is most relevant in echinococcosis a zoonotic disease caused by the Echinococcus parasite. The presence of Echinococcus IgG in the bloodstream is a marker for this infection. Through disease progression these antibodies can be detected as part of serological diagnostic tests like ELISA which are vital tools in diagnosing echinococcosis. The interplay of Echinococcus IgG with complement proteins also contributes to the chronic nature and clinical features of this disease.
