Abcam's CCL23 Human ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an
in vitro
enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human CCL23 in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for Human CCL23 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and CCL23 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human CCL23 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CCL23 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

CCL23 also known as macrophage inflammatory protein 3 is a chemokine involved in immune response regulation. It has a molecular weight of approximately 15-16 kDa and is secreted by various cells such as macrophages dendritic cells and endothelial cells. CCL23 is expressed mostly in the bone marrow and lymph nodes but it also localizes in tissues like the liver and lungs under certain conditions. It plays an important role in mediating chemotaxis directing the migration of cells toward infection sites.
Biological function summary
CCL23 functions in the recruitment of immune cells especially eosinophils and monocytes to areas where immune responses are necessary.
