Specificity:A sensitive antibody to Leishmania amastigote-specific A2 protein. This sequence is particular to the parasite and therefore the antibody has no cross-reactivity with mammalian proteins. It is specific to A2 protein from Leishmania donovani and in a highly probable manner to other species which express A2. It won't be detected in species where the A2 is a non-expressed pseudogene such as Leishmania major.ab150344 recognizes the family of A2 proteins ranging from 42 to 100kDa.

Leishmania A2 also known as LmA2 is a protein expressed in Leishmania parasites. It plays an important role in the stress response mechanisms of these protozoan organisms especially under heat shock conditions. The mass of Leishmania A2 is approximately 45 kDa. Expression of Leishmania A2 takes place predominantly in the amastigote form of the parasite which is the stage responsible for causing disease in mammalian hosts.
