SEI-1 also known as p34SEI-1 or CDK4-binding protein p34 is an important protein involved in cell cycle regulation. It has a molecular mass of approximately 31 kDa. Expression of SEI-1 occurs in various tissues with a noticeable presence in proliferative tissues like the thymus spleen and certain cancerous tissues. It exerts its role mechanistically by interacting with cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) particularly CDK4 and modulating their activity during cell cycle progression.

SEI-1 influences cell cycle regulation and proliferation. It acts as a regulatory factor for the CDK4/Cyclin D1 complex facilitating the G1 to S phase transition in the cell cycle.
