CGB5 also known as chorionic gonadotropin subunit beta 5 is a protein closely related to the hormonal function in mammals. It belongs to the beta subunit of the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormone. This protein has a molecular mass of approximately 22 kDa and is expressed mainly in the placenta. Its expression is highly regulated during pregnancy contributing to various reproductive processes.

The chorionic gonadotropin subunit beta 5 plays a significant role in supporting the uterine environment. It is a critical part of the larger glycoprotein hormone complex which includes the alpha subunit.
