RBM6 also known as RNA binding motif protein 6 plays a significant role in RNA binding activities. It exhibits a molecular mass of approximately 94 kDa. This protein is expressed in a variety of tissues with higher expression levels observed in the lung and brain. RBM6 contains several RNA recognition motifs that facilitate its involvement in the regulation of RNA processing including splicing stability and transport.
Biological function summary
RNA binding motif protein 6 contributes to the regulation of gene expression by interacting with specific RNA sequences. It often functions as part of a larger ribonucleoprotein complex. Through its interactions RBM6 influences alternative splicing events which modify mRNA precursors to create diverse protein isoforms.
