ACAP2 also known as ArfGAP with coiled-coil ankyrin repeat and PH domain-containing protein 2 plays a role in cell signaling and membrane trafficking. It has a molecular mass of around 90 kDa and is expressed in various tissues including the brain and kidney. ACAP2 acts as a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) for ADP-ribosylation factor 6 (Arf6) a member of the Arf family which is important in vesicle formation in cellular processes.
Biological function summary
ACAP2 influences cellular processes by regulating actin cytoskeleton remodeling and endocytosis. It is part of a complex that interacts with proteins like phosphatidylinositol 45-bisphosphate which helps localize ACAP2 to specific cellular membranes.
