MRPL28 also known as Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein L28 is a component of the mitochondrial ribosome. It plays a critical role in protein synthesis within mitochondria. The protein has a molecular mass of about 32 kDa. MRPL28 is expressed in many tissues with higher expression levels observed in tissues with high energy demands such as the heart muscles and liver.

MRPL28 integrates into the large subunit of the mitochondrial ribosome forming part of the machinery required for mitochondrial protein synthesis.
