ETAA1 also known as Ewing tumor-associated antigen 1 is a protein recognized for its role in DNA replication stress response. It is approximately 92 kDa in mass and ubiquitously expressed in various human tissues. ETAA1 functions at the mechanical level by activating the ATR (ataxia telangiectasia and Rad3-related) kinase an enzyme critical for maintaining genomic stability. This protein contains ATR activators that allow the phosphorylation of various substrates participating in DNA damage repair.
Biological function summary
ETAA1 plays a significant role in the cellular response to replication stress ensuring accurate DNA replication and repair. It does not function as a single entity but acts as part of the ATR activation complex which is involved in sensing and signaling DNA damage.
