The Adenovirus Type 5 E1A protein is an early viral gene product encoded by the adenovirus type 5 genome. It has a molecular mass of about 243 to 289 amino acids depending on the splice variant. This protein known for its regulatory abilities plays a central role in modulating the host cell environment to support viral replication. Expression occurs primarily in infected host cells shortly after infection. E1A proteins are necessary for the transcription of other viral genes making them pivotal in the adenovirus life cycle.
Biological function summary
