FZD3 also known as Frizzled-3 is a member of the Frizzled family of G protein-coupled receptor proteins. It has a molecular mass of approximately 76 kDa. FZD3 primarily acts as a receptor for Wnt proteins playing a critical role in signal transduction. These receptors are widely expressed in a variety of tissues including the brain which aids in its multiple functional roles in cellular communication and development.
Biological function summary
FZD3 participates in the regulation of the Wnt signaling pathway a fundamental signaling mechanism important for controlling cell fate proliferation and migration. As a component of the Wnt receptor complex FZD3 interacts with other proteins to initiate a cascade of intracellular events.
