Pregnancy-associated glycoprotein 1 (PAG1) is a protein mainly associated with pregnancy in mammals. It belongs to the aspartic proteinase family and is encoded by the PAG1 gene. The protein has a molecular mass of approximately 50 kDa. PAG1 is expressed predominantly in the placenta and can also be found in serum. Its expression begins soon after conception and continues throughout pregnancy making it a useful marker for detecting early pregnancy in certain livestock species.
