UBFD1 also known as Ubiquitin Family Domain-Containing Protein 1 is a protein with a molecular mass of approximately 35 kDa. It functions mechanically by interacting with ubiquitin tags playing a role in protein degradation and localization through the ubiquitin-proteasome system. UBFD1 is expressed in various tissues with notable expression in the liver brain and immune cells. This widespread expression suggests its involvement in multiple cellular functions.
Biological function summary
UBFD1 engages in cellular homeostasis by influencing protein turnover and signaling pathways. It is not known as part of a traditional protein complex but it interacts with several ubiquitin-associated proteins.
