Transmembrane Activator and CAML Interactor known as TACI also goes by the names TNFRSF13B and CD267. TACI is a receptor with a molecular weight of approximately 33 kDa. It is expressed on B cells a type of lymphocyte and to some extent on activated T cells. This receptor plays a part in the immune system helping manage the production and function of certain antibodies.
Biological function summary
TACI involves the regulation of B cell function and survival. It binds to two ligands APRIL and BAFF and TACI is not part of any larger complex. Upon ligand binding TACI can promote antibody class-switching which adjusts the type of antibody that B cells produce.
