REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our

HAPLN3 also known as hyaluronan and proteoglycan link protein 3 mechanically acts to stabilize the extracellular matrix structure by binding hyaluronic acid and proteoglycans. This protein has a mass of about 38 kDa. HAPLN3 is notably expressed in tissues like cartilage and brain contributing to its functional roles in these areas. Among its alternate names cartilage link protein 3 is recognized underlining its connection with connective tissues.
Biological function summary
Hyaluronan and proteoglycan link protein 3 integrates into the extracellular matrix by forming part of a complex network essential for tissue structure and integrity. HAPLN3 contributes to the stabilization of matrix macromolecules directly influencing cell adhesion migration and proliferation. It ensures the structural rigidity necessary for normal tissue functions and provides the necessary dynamic balance for tissue repair and maintenance.
Pathways
Hyaluronan and proteoglycan link protein 3 participates in the formation and remodeling of the extracellular matrix pathway important for processes like embryogenesis and wound healing. It interacts with proteins such as aggrecan and versican which are also key components of the matrix regulatory network. Additionally HAPLN3 is involved with the hyaluronan metabolism pathway assisting in maintaining homeostasis of tissue hydration and elasticity.
Hyaluronan and proteoglycan link protein 3 has associations with osteoarthritis where its expression affects cartilage degradation and regeneration. It is also connected to neurological disorders due to its expression in the brain where it may interact with neurocan. Aberrant regulation or mutation of HAPLN3 can lead to disrupted extracellular matrix integrity contributing to the pathophysiology of these conditions.
