REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our

The MPP2 also known as DLG2 (Discs Large Homolog 2) is a member of the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) family of proteins. It plays a role in maintaining cell polarity and organizing signal complexes at cell junctions. This protein has a mass of approximately 85 kDa. MPP2/DLG2 expresses mainly in the brain particularly in neuronal cells where it contributes to synaptic transmission and plasticity.
Biological function summary
The DLG2 protein acts as a scaffolding protein that organizes other proteins within the synaptic membrane at excitatory synapses. It is part of the heteromeric complex that includes other synaptic proteins facilitating interactions between NMDA receptors and various signaling molecules. By stabilizing these protein interactions DLG2 influences synaptic strength and cellular communication pathways.
Pathways
DLG2 is involved in the regulation of synaptic plasticity which plays an important role in learning and memory. It participates in the NMDA receptor signaling pathway interacting with proteins like PSD-95 which is important for synapse maturation and plasticity. Additionally DLG2 is linked to the MAPK signaling pathway which impacts cell growth division and differentiation.
DLG2 has associations with neurological disorders such as schizophrenia and intellectual disabilities. Its interaction with proteins like SHANK3 which are implicated in neuropsychiatric conditions suggests that dysregulation of DLG2 can lead to abnormal synaptic signaling linked to these disorders. Understanding DLG2's function and connections is important for exploring therapeutic targets in these brain disorders.
