REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our

TROAP also known as trophinin-associated protein or tastin is a protein with a molecular weight of approximately 75 kDa. It is mainly expressed in testis and placenta and observed in some cancer tissues. Mechanically TROAP participates in cellular adhesion and contributes to cell–cell adhesion processes important for the developing embryo. It interacts with trophinin a molecule involved in cell adhesion particularly important during implantation of the embryo in the uterine lining.
Biological function summary
TROAP serves roles in establishing cell-cell contact and adhesion during implantation. It is part of a complex with trophinin bystin and tastin working together to mediate cell adhesion at the embryo-maternal interface. TROAP supports the binding between cells enabling proper communication and anchoring essential during early embryonic development and trophoblastic invasion.
Pathways
The involvement of TROAP in cell adhesion links it to key reproductive and developmental pathways. It is part of pathways involving cell-to-cell junctions wherein its interaction with trophinin contributes to the adhesion mechanism. Related proteins in these pathways include bystin and tastin which further strengthen the adhesion complex promoting effective embryonic implantation.
TROAP connects to conditions involving abnormal cell adhesion such as certain types of cancer. It appears in breast cancer and some reproductive disorders where its interaction influences cellular invasiveness. Researchers have observed correlations between TROAP and tumor-associated proteins like cadherins that are critical in cancer metastasis suggesting its potential role in cancer prognosis and therapy.
