BZW1 also known as Protein Orf is a member of the basic leucine zipper (bZIP) family of proteins. The mass of BZW1 is approximately 42 kDa. It is mainly expressed in the nucleus of cells. BZW1 plays a role in the regulation of transcription and translation processes. This regulation occurs through its interaction with specific sequences on the DNA and RNA contributing to the modification of gene expression.
Biological function summary
BZW1 influences cell growth and proliferation by engaging in the regulation of gene transcription. It can interact with other proteins to form complexes that modulate these processes. BZW1 adjusts protein synthesis rates by acting at the level of translational control affecting cellular responses to different growth conditions.
