REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute and ERS Genomics Limited, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the limited use licenses and relevant patents please refer to our

JKAMP also known as JNK1-associated membrane protein is a protein that plays a role in cellular stress responses and neuroinflammation. It has a mass of approximately 27 kDa. JKAMP is ubiquitously expressed with higher expression levels in the brain and spinal cord. Mechanically JKAMP functions by interacting with other proteins and modulating signaling pathways involved in cellular stress responses.
Biological function summary
JKAMP participates in cellular defense mechanisms by regulating stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK) pathways. It is involved in the JNK signaling pathway which is a part of the SAPK pathways. By participating in these cellular processes JKAMP helps manage the cell's response to inflammatory cytokines UV radiation and osmotic stress. It forms a complex with JNK influencing transcriptional activity and apoptosis in certain cell types.
Pathways
JKAMP plays a significant part in the JNK and stress-activated MAPK pathways. These pathways are important for transmitting stress signals from the cell membrane to the nucleus therefore affecting gene expression. The protein interacts with various other proteins within these pathways such as MAPK8 (also known as JNK1) allowing it to carry out its function in regulating stress responses and apoptosis. This interaction is important for maintaining cellular homeostasis under stress conditions.
JKAMP has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. In neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's abnormal JKAMP activity can contribute to improper protein regulation and excessive cell death. Furthermore its interaction with JNK1 highlights its involvement in oncogenic processes where dysregulated JNK pathways may lead to uncontrolled cell growth and tumorigenesis. Understanding JKAMP's role in these conditions could offer insights into novel therapeutic strategies targeting JNK-associated pathways.
