PRAP1 sometimes referred to as Proline-Rich Acidic Protein 1 is a protein with a mass of approximately 18 kDa. It localizes mainly in the cell nucleus and has a restricted expression pattern found predominately in epithelial tissues such as the gastrointestinal tract and the reproductive system. This suggests that it might have functions related to those specific cell types.
Biological function summary
PRAP1 plays a role in cellular processes such as proliferation and differentiation. It does not seem to form part of any well-characterized multiprotein complex but its expression pattern implies a relevance in the development and maintenance of epithelial cells.
