PRPF3 also known as Pre-mRNA processing factor 3 plays an important role in the spliceosome machinery necessary for the splicing of pre-mRNA. It is part of the U4/U6-U5 tri-snRNP complex which is important for the proper assembly of the spliceosome. This protein weighs approximately 77 kDa and can be found in the nucleus of cells where mRNA splicing takes place. Its expression occurs across various tissues reflecting its relevance in general cellular functions.

PRPF3 is involved in mRNA processing by facilitating the removal of introns from pre-mRNA transcripts. In its role within the spliceosome it works alongside other proteins in the complex to ensure accurate intron excision and exon ligation.
